Life is fun, serious, quirky, ironic, joyful, unique, tender and most of all delicate.  Each child holds the world in their hands and precious moment in time with their laughs.  As a mother I believe every child is beautiful, every person is beautiful in the soul, and my mission is to capture that moment of joy and the beauty within to be lasting family heirlooms unique to you and your family.

I want to to know you and your family.  Capture your unique memories as your family grows through sunshine and snow through the seasons of all of our lives. I look forward to connecting with you and learning your stories.

Love your life with peace and joy!

Time Warp Tuesday :: Stacy Ziegler Boulder Children Photographer

We lived in Folsom, CA at the time. Just built a new house and moved in to 4 bedrooms with just a 12 foot U-Haul. Rooms laid empty and every window, all 48 of them, were open for the world to get a sneak peak.  We had no time to spare we unpacked the house and were set to drop off the U-Haul and meet the taxi there to take hubby and I to the airport.  You see we were flying out that afternoon and the next day we were to be on our first cruise through the Caribbean. But before we left and without time to spare hubby took out a box and some thumbtacks. Out came some old blue cloth. It had a touch of grey at places and some gold. I had no idea what it was until he hung them up and there was a faded Galaxy, stars, space ships, Darth Vaders head and STAR WARS written all across. I think maybe even Princess Lea was there on those sheets. Yes folks…our brand new home all sparkly and clean had Star Wars sheets as window coverings. On the drive in the cab after we could relax I asked B what those were. Turns out homeboy had them since the 3rd Grade and had been saving them all this time.  I chuckled and laughed and probably complained a little until we could save up for real blinds.  I will never forget when the Hunter Douglas salesman showed up to sell us our blinds. He immediately fell over – no joke – laughing. When he could compose himself he was so excited saying they were the best temporary window coverings he had ever seen and that he too had those same sheets when he was in elementary school. He was sad his were gone, but oh no not ours for you see I am married to such a sentimental man…I have lost closet space to those special sheets in plastic on the shelf, but I know he treasures them, and I him so I won’t complain.

When these two showed up and mom showed me that they brought Light Sabers I was STOKED! I felt like I was capturing the joy B had with his little brother 30 years ago. Here are a few of my favorites from our mini-session together.

These are my grandsons. Your photographs of them are on our stair wall and give ‘Papa” and I great joy every morning. These young jedi were clearly in their element with you. Thank you! Anne(Grandma)

Snow Sessions :: Boulder Kid Photography

For some the snow is enough and parents are ready for spring. I know on a snowy Sunday a few weeks ago after going through our 4th coloring book in a week I so wanted to go outside and take advantage of the season. Coming from California, I never knew real seasons. Now I adore them. On Saturday, I went out and had a mini-session with little K spending about 20 minutes to capture some great images I know mom will cherish. Here are a few of my favorite pictures:

I also was lucky enough to bring R this time.  Here are a couple pictures of him waiting for mom.

If you would like your own mini session please shoot me an email. I have two dates available and they are coming up quick! I know the snow may seem to be much, but summer will be here before we know it.

Love your life with Peace and Joy!

Who Is Roo???? Stacy Ziegler Photographer

Wow Sorry for being away!  Isn’t it crazy how life attacks and you wonder where a month has gone?  Well my little man after one try and was too sick got to go through and complete his surgery.  Although it is a total routine surgery the mom in me was worried.  I don’t know how a mom couldn’t be…but he is fine!  YAY!  His throat still hurts him and he did not eat for a few days, but just today he downed a whole bowl of spaghetti and ice cream.  Not together, but each.  The two randomly generated winners got their iTunes cards…but just so you know here are the two numbers “out of the hat”

Congratulations to Kelly & Anastasia!

Thank you so much everyone for giving me suggestions for Roo’s new name.  I must admit it has been so hard to choose.  My good friend Emily had the name Biscuit, and although I gotta tell you I was like What the Heck BISCUIT?!?!?!  Em has said her name about a gazillion times and well…Biscuit has grown on me.  Too funny sorry everyone it is obvious Emily had an advantage.  That is why she did not get the gift card…heehehe, but instead two innocent bystanders did!  Maybe Em will.  I am going to give the name Biscuit a fair shot and see how it sits:)

Because no post is complete without a picture.  Here is a little preview from the session I had over the weekend.  Little R here is a sweetheart.  His mommy is one of the kindest ladies I have had the pleasure of meeting as of late.  Her kind nature is sweet with little R and his sweet demeanor is a true joy.

Have a great weekend Kangaroos!

Toodaloo!

Stacy-These are so beautiful. I really want you to do some photos for us some time. I just love your style!!

Who is Roo?

Many of you have seen our new little friend Roo pop up in the last few months here on the blog.  Roo is a kangaroo that I commissioned artist Megan Horsch with Kaylee Bug Designs to draw.  I gave some specific ideas such as I knew I wanted a kangaroo and I knew I wanted him to have a classic unique feel, but Megan really brought Roo to life.  She was great to work with, and I adore Roo more than I thought I could.  I chose Roo to be my little children’s portraiture mascot for some very specific reasons.  A friend last Sunday suggested I  share these here.  You see for me Kangaroos are just the sweetest mommies in the Animal world.  The way they hold the Joey’s close to them for the next year I just find amazing.  I wore my son for our first year together and it was the sweetest thing for us to help with our bonding as mother and son.  So in my little way it is a constant reminder our a mother and child’s bond…and thus Roo!  Now I know I have not been too creative with her name.  I am not married to the name Roo it has grown organically in the past few months, but I thought I would throw up a fun little contest

NAME MY ROO!!!

StacyZRooRight

So Folks until Monday at 5:00 PM Mountain Time I will be taking names for Roo.  I will on Tuesday draw a name out of the “hat” to select a winner.  If I PICK a name there will be TWO WINNERS!  One from the hat and the one with Roo’s New name!  What do you win?  Well I thought to make it interesting for EVERYONE from ANY Place – It will be a $20 iTunes Gift Card.  Just a little sumptin’ sumptin’ to let you know how much I love ya all.  So leave a name and get some tunes.  Roo himself he is partial to some Jack Johnson…yummy…oh wait that is me!

Thank you Shannon Kaple for a great Family Pic

Have a great weekend.  My exciting Friday night is with that cute little man and some meatballs…Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs that is.

Toodaloo Kangaroos!

Kyla’s idea is Miraroo. Very cute Roo you have there!

Jane - January 10, 2010 - 8:22 pm

What about Kang, as in Michael Kang from SCI :) Wait… Roo is female, hmmmm… Nope I think I’m sticking with Kang!

Nat MacLean - January 9, 2010 - 11:27 pm

I have it… Diddy!
Carrying a child (Didy… you know what that stands for).
Carrying a tune (strolling along to a diddy… as in iTunes)
And it just WORKS.

The name of your Roo is Diddy… Diddy Roo!

I adore your new site and portrait! R is soooo big.

Anastasia Bourke - January 9, 2010 - 6:42 pm

“Rooby” (a play on the girl’s name Ruby, but it’s also a Roo with a Ba-’by’, so it’s a Rooby!) Maybe hypnenate it to Roo-by, or whatever. Anyway, that’s my suggestion, for what it’s worth.

By the way, the baby kangaroos are called ‘Joey’s’, that’s what’s in the pouch. So a Rooby is kinda like a baby Joey roo.

kari S. - January 9, 2010 - 9:08 am

A very cute bunny and it would make a lovely wall hanging in a baby nursery! First thing came to my mind when looking at the bun-bun was “Bubsy-roo”.

I’m liking ‘pocket’… or ‘pouch’ if you prefer something monosyllabic.

Karie McLain - January 9, 2010 - 8:23 am

What a super cute family you have Stacy! Love this pic.

Emily Szettella - January 8, 2010 - 6:55 pm

I love the pic of the family Stac! It is fantastic! I have a name suggestion for your little roo (don’t laugh! I don’t know where on earth it came from!)…..

Biscuit.

Love ya!

2010 More Fun Than Mr. Toads Wild Ride :: stacyZ Photographer

Yesterday I came here and talked about reflection, growth, and how life is about constant reflection.  We are here to have constant growth…to live, love, learn and grow.  Like I said, if there is anything I hope to do every day it is to follow those four words.  Live Love Learn Grow.  Today I attended the Sandy Puc’ tour hoping to do the last two, Learn & Grow.  While I was there, I learned more about an organization I have heard about before called Now I lay Me Down To Sleep.  As much as I had heard about the organization I never in a gazillion years thought I would be able to emotionally handle such a huge task.  I spoke to a wonderful lady named Shanna.  Wow.  Talk about Living and Loving.  I honestly do not know if my heart could handle this, but I am planning on seeing though if I am strong enough.

This year should be a big year for us here.  Hubby, B, is finishing up Grad School and we are hoping at the end of 2010 he will have all his classes done preparing to walk June 2011.  Lil’ R will probably start Kindergarten in September.  Right now we are deep in the process of touring the local skills to make our selection.  Right now I am booked up to February and only have a couple of spots available for February.  I have some awesome programs to share so stay tuned to the blog to learn more.  As of right now I am crashing out for the night.

And as my friend Em, says…a post is not a post without a picture.  Here is a picture from the photoshoot we did here for the Dane Sanders Road Show workshop I hosted at my studio last December.  Yes…I do have many things backlogged to come post about.
