So those who know me, know I am a bit of a goof ball. I like to have fun, I like to laugh, and most of all I have always been like this. I use to be pretty shy at first, but then always opened up. I still remember when this essentially changed for me I was about 6. You see, I almost died due to an allergic reaction to a cat essentially an asthma attack. My parents ever since then were a bit over protected. I grew up knowing the fear my parents always held, but trying everything to be normal I became a bit goofy. I wanted to be like my dad everyone thought he was so funny. I was the turkey who organized the TP of the boys houses, oops sorry mom – that was Sandy Birdsong really it was! Sorry Sandy
. I think I was given a valuable lesson at a young age that life is short. I am here for this one. I might as well make it fun.
Well Facebook is so my friend today. I found myself tagged in this random Camp Condor picture from back in 1984. I just finished third grade (you do the math, but really lets just pretend you didn’t and I am 29) my parents sent me to camp for a week(trying to keep me normal I suppose). Camp was always difficult for me. I was the kid who had the special food, allergic to peanuts/nuts/heck a ton of stuff (heheehe I even convinced my counselor that oatmeal was related and I was allergic to it as well – really it was just slop and I wanted Cheerios…I know I am naughty!), I had to go to the front of the group on hikes because I would stop breathing, and my nickname was a million questions. But this summer was different, with all that craziness, it was still the summer of loooove and Mikey Mallory the cutest 4th grader ever was my boyfriend at camp. He was in the row in front and 4 to the left. Yup wasn’t he a cutie…ahhh not as cute as my man now, but not too shabby for the kid who wasn’t allowed to run on the playground because of the dust. Here is a pic of me. Cheeseball and all!
Life is short. Summer of 2009 is shorter. Enjoy yours!
Live your life with peace and joy.
