Andrew Schaefer - Stacy this is a great idea and the lucky person who receives this is in for an amazing experience. Talk to you soon!
David King - Hi Stacy, I don’t know if this would be considered a two-fer but Julie and I come as a package deal.:-) After meeting you and all the other Fast-Trackers in Las Vegas, we’ve been working night and day, trying to get our photography business off the ground. We had been running our event cinematography business for a couple of years and while experiencing some modest success, we are really passionate about incorporating photography into our business and into our lives. About the time that we started pursuing this passion, I was unexpectedly forced to make this my full time gig, if you know what I mean. We landed a nice commercial video project to keep the wolves at bay but we know when this is over, we’ve got to have somewhere to go. Being mentored by you would help so much in launching us out on our own. We have the talent, the drive and the time, we’re just looking for a little push down the road to success. Thanks for doing this, your generosity will come back tenfold – David

Lisa - What a great blessing for someone! Please enter me in the drawing for this photography lesson giveaway. I would like the ability to capture life in a given moment, the ablilty to freeze what I see around me with my camera. I have just upgraded my camera to “digital” slr and would love for you to teach me how to set it to get the result I want. I am also trying to decide what new lens to buy. Thanks for the chance at your giveaway.
Douglas King - Hi Stacy,
I am passionate about photography. For the past several years my focus was to photograph nature, travel, events and. My work has been published in magazines and websites http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8800466/ and http://www.nature.org/wherewework/northamerica/states/washington/misc/art29520.html?src=news
I was laid off last spring from a technology PM job at WaMu bank. For me this summer has been a very slow time for IT Infra Structure PM opportunities so I started thinking about options. Then it hit me – I realized that for some time now I was working to photograph and decided that was backwards. So I talked with my wife and started to explore starting a photography business. 2 weeks later I was at Skips summer school. I found the Fast track meet-up on Facebook and think we met briefly there.
I am marching forward and am working on a business plan and am taking the Fast Track workshop in Seattle in less than 2 weeks. I hope to launch my business in October
I know I need to find mentors. As a nature and travel photographer I do pretty well. I realized at the FTP shoot-out at Skips summer school and several times since intentionally photographing portraits that I have a lot to learn.
So if your willing to work with a total newbie that is passionate about photography and people and is committed to working hard I would relish the opportunity.
Thanks,
Douglas King
StacyZ - Received this as well:
Why should you pick me?
1. I talked to you on the phone once.
2. Does it help that I live in Colorado?
3. I love the sunshine we have, and well, the rain is phenomenal.
4. I can be kinda silly
All those things aside… I am looking to take my business to the next level. I am ready, motivated, and driven to do it. My dissatisfaction with the way things currently are is exponentially increasing by the day. I know I have what it takes to do it no matter if you choose me or not, but I see it as a great opportunity to learn, grow, and reach the goals I have set for myself with someone helping me in the "right" direction. Plus, you seem like an awesome and fun person, and I would love an excuse to chat with you more frequently.
Did I win?

StacyZ - Hi I got this in an email. Thought I would post it here
Hi Stacy
I would love to be considered for your free mentor contest. I love your sense and perspective in portait photography.
I am very self driven, passionate, and I am always striving for growth. To give you an example of my creativity and drive, 5 years ago I taught myself to sew and developed Mamapatrice (www.mamapatrice.com go to the mamapatrice link), custom children clothing. When I started I barely knew how to use a sewing machine. This business was doing very well, until the economic crach last year, coupled with new lead testing laws that threaten to make it impossible to conduct business. This year I decided to concentrate on my other passion, portrait photography. So far hve developed http://www.photographybypatrice.com. I feel I have grown quite bit this last year developing my photography skills especially over this summer. I love to capture connections, whether the connection is with another person, a momment, or my camera lens. I really get joy out of freeing that momment people might have missed and want to remmeber. I believe if I had great help I could really make my business successful and become a highly desired photographer.
Thank you,
Patrice
Chelsea - Stacy, this is an incredibly generous offer — and potentially way more beneficial than a giveaway of any object might ever be! Thank you so much for the opportunity. I had a very important professor in my college experience who believed that creative writing — good writing — was, contrary to the beliefs of many, something that could be taught. Though its tools are not physical ones, it is a craft that can be learned and honed in on. There is a spark, though, a natural knack that is inherent to the writer and it must be present for true greatness. I think we could look at the craft — and art! — of photography in a similar way. In my experience with photography, I’ve both studied the work of others for clues on how to capture the images I would like to and I’ve honored my own inner eye in framing and creating a picture. I believe both are incredibly important in growing as a photographer — something I want very much to do. Just now, my primary subject is my son, Pan, and the home we are making together. I’ve been doing some soul-searching, though, and trying to find a way that I can be at home with my son more often (I presently work at an office full-time) and still support my family, and I truly think I could make this — my own family photography business — work and thrive and support us in a beautiful way here in our community. Your work is beautiful, and your guidance would be, I am sure, invaluable.
Sarah - Stacy, what a great opportunity for someone.
I’ve always been one of those people who had the camera…in high school, college, as a single girl, a newlywed, and now as a mother to twins. I’d be the one getting double prints to share with friends and family and who gloried in the wonders of one-hour photo developing. Digital photography came along at the perfect time and made me fall in love with photography all over again. Yes, some might call me a Mom with a Camera, but it really means a lot to me to move beyond that. I love catching a moment, grabbing a glimpse of someone’s personality, and most of all, I love making someone happy with a photo I’ve taken of them or their family. But I know I need to learn more, so much more about photography and I am ready. I’m a little amazed at the timing of your contest, actually, because in recent weeks, I’ve been coming to the realization that I need a guide, a mentor, but have been lost as to where to find that mentor. Stacy, it would be such a thrill to me to learn from you. I sincerely thank you for the consideration for this opportunity.
Cindy Weakley - Stacy – Thank you for having such an awesome contest! Photography has interested me since I was a little girl. My father has always been one of those people who loved to explore and grow. In doing so, he bought a 35 mm camera and put a darkroom in his home. When I would visit him, I would spend the majority of my time shooting pictures and developing the black and white photos. I was probably 12 or so. I never thought of myself as creative. There are no artist in my family or photographers…just printers.
While in college, I worked in my grandfather’s printing shop setting type. I would watch the two artist that worked for him in his art department, but always felt that I could never do what they did. I studied business in college and graduated with a BBA in Finance. I fell into the world of insurance and found that I loved it. I love people and I love helping them. I have now been doing this 25 years and I am only 47! While I have loved my career, I have been saying to myself that I would like to add another dimension to who I am. I love photography and I love scrapbooking.
As an adult, I have found that I do have a creative side. I have taken photos of my favorite subjects – my children – and I have had compliments on them from many peopole. Recently, my cousin asked me to shoot her daughters wedding in June! I was blown away! Would she really trust me to do this? This a really, really important day and if I mess it up, her daughter will be devastated. They are tight on money, because my cousin lost her husband and her daughter’s lost their dad very unexpectedly about 11 months ago. He was only 46. I really, really want to do this for her, her daughter and her family. I can’t think of a more incredible gift to give them!
Even more than that, my cousin has made me believe that I could do this as a second career. She will never know the confidence she has given me to pursue something that I now realize has been a life long dream – to bring joy, laughter and memories to other through my photography! Your offer is too good to be true and I would be honored to be mentored by you as I look to start a business with my photography!
Thank you for considering me!
