Sometimes there are people who are smart funny and just downright cool. Lisa & Josh are two such people. We had a blast heading up to Estes Park for Josh & Lisa’s engagement photography session where we cruised around in their van hitting up some great spots for pictures. Here are just a few of the images we had fun creating.

And of course their dog Disco had to join us for some pics. He was such a sweetie and so well behaved. Can you believe such a beautiful dog was found as a puppy walking down Colfax here in Denver? I can’t believe anyone would ever let such a beautiful creature go, but he sure does have a great mom and dad now!

La Vida Loca

Well hello beautiful people. How has everyone been? So sorry I have been absent here in stacyLand. I looked at the date of my last post & thought …No. No that can NOT be right.

But yes, I have been gone for forever and like that silly boy in college who never called…I totally suck! I have so much to share in this little space of mine. Where do I start? Lets just rewind and tell you what the hell has been going on with us (not just me, myself & I but all of the Z clan) since my last post!

Hubster has worked his patookus off and finished all his coursework for his graduate (master’s) degree in Earth Science – geology??? (I don’t know something to do with rocks). He has been working full time as an Environmental Consultant and he has been teaching at the university as well and he has found out he LOVES teaching! So who knows where that might take us in the coming years. As it stands right now he is finishing up his final project and will walk in December.

Robert is getting so big and is such a joy. He finished his first year of elementary school which he loved. His school is wonderful and he has made some truly fantastic friends. I still cannot believe I now have a FIRST GRADER!

We welcomed a new soul into our family. Yup we now are the parents of TWO (a.k.a. ”The Boys”). Alex joined us in April and it has been wonderful getting to know this sweet little angel. I suspect he will be joining R in the shenanigans before we know it.

As far as business goes I have not been working while all of this wonderful, crazy, life changing stuff was taking place. Just last week I started taking clients again and I was even lucky enough to have had 4 shoots when I was in California visiting my parents.

So now you are all caught up. I am back and I am ready to rock the blog!

Moving forward you will start seeing more posts, more pics, more stories and also some recipes. (Like I said… ALL NEW FOODS!)

For my clients, I will be scheduling Back to School mini-sessions soon. These will be very limited and I will be offering exclusive props and designs for the sessions.

B Family

Last week I had the pleasure of hanging out with the Butlers. Such a sweet young family who are totally fun too! Not to mention lil’ B’s eyes – look how gorgeous they are!

I always love when I ask a family to just go hang out and they walk over so sweet. Then lil’ B had to turn around and totally slay me!

I promise no caterpillars were damaged in the taking of these photographs. Lil’ B was incredibly gentle. So much so we let the caterpillar join him on his favorite book.

I know a few months ago when my family was planning our photography session I was having a heck of a time figuring out what to wear. I know planning an entire family’s ensemble can feel rather daunting so I saw these cute little “inspiration boards” and I wanted to share. These outfits are cute, affordable and totally fun! YAY!

Well it has been a crazy summer here in Boulder, but oh so fun. We had an old friend of mine, Julie from Lot116, come out to Boulder in July to take our family pictures. They are in my new header – are they not awesome!? Thank you Julie! My little guy got glasses. We had birthdays, swim lessons and playtime. Really just an amazing Boulder summer that I PROMISE to share with you soon. I also promise to share a bit more on why I have been absent…if you haven’t checked my twitter…hint hint

But for this space I am FINALLY back up with the help of my dear friend Emily Szettella. More news on all the goodies that come with that this week. Until then, I will leave you with two pictures from my baby’s first day of Kindergarten.

I don’t deny that I love families. I love how each of them interact differently, but all of them have their own language of love. Love for each of them and how in each movement they are beautiful as individuals and as a family. The Lazio’s are one such family. With three little boys their mom Sara knows every moment and breath of these three. Their language is definitely one of FUN!

p.s. Any tips on how to adjust a 5 year old’s wake up schedule? Do I just need to wake him up every day way earlier or adjust the time slowly?

Memories are for Him

Hi Folks! Long time no hello. Well much happened over the last month. We had my parents in town, Robert and I got pneumonia, I lost my iphone (we think it was stolen but we really don’t know…), went to Asheville, North Carolina…just had some crazy times. Good Times, but crazy none the less.

Well yesterday I was talking with a client of mine, Miss Heather Lawrence of Mommies Helping Mommies, and we were talking about how in this digital age we don’t have albums of our kids like I my parents had when I was growing up. I know my parents had bookshelves after bookshelves of our photo albums. Me – I have one. ONE! How sad is that? How WRONG is that! So last night while I waited for news on my new site (nope not a typo!). I went and found some pictures on one of our hard drives so I can work on our album. I will come back and show you what I make for my own family.

Here are two from last year when my mom and I took R to Build a Bear where he got to make his own T-Rex…complete with guitar and all.

Time Warp Tuesday :: Stacy Ziegler Boulder Children Photographer

We lived in Folsom, CA at the time. Just built a new house and moved in to 4 bedrooms with just a 12 foot U-Haul. Rooms laid empty and every window, all 48 of them, were open for the world to get a sneak peak. We had no time to spare we unpacked the house and were set to drop off the U-Haul and meet the taxi there to take hubby and I to the airport. You see we were flying out that afternoon and the next day we were to be on our first cruise through the Caribbean. But before we left and without time to spare hubby took out a box and some thumbtacks. Out came some old blue cloth. It had a touch of grey at places and some gold. I had no idea what it was until he hung them up and there was a faded Galaxy, stars, space ships, Darth Vaders head and STAR WARS written all across. I think maybe even Princess Lea was there on those sheets. Yes folks…our brand new home all sparkly and clean had Star Wars sheets as window coverings. On the drive in the cab after we could relax I asked B what those were. Turns out homeboy had them since the 3rd Grade and had been saving them all this time. I chuckled and laughed and probably complained a little until we could save up for real blinds. I will never forget when the Hunter Douglas salesman showed up to sell us our blinds. He immediately fell over – no joke – laughing. When he could compose himself he was so excited saying they were the best temporary window coverings he had ever seen and that he too had those same sheets when he was in elementary school. He was sad his were gone, but oh no not ours for you see I am married to such a sentimental man…I have lost closet space to those special sheets in plastic on the shelf, but I know he treasures them, and I him so I won’t complain.

When these two showed up and mom showed me that they brought Light Sabers I was STOKED! I felt like I was capturing the joy B had with his little brother 30 years ago. Here are a few of my favorites from our mini-session together.

Snow Sessions :: Boulder Kid Photography

For some the snow is enough and parents are ready for spring. I know on a snowy Sunday a few weeks ago after going through our 4th coloring book in a week I so wanted to go outside and take advantage of the season. Coming from California, I never knew real seasons. Now I adore them. On Saturday, I went out and had a mini-session with little K spending about 20 minutes to capture some great images I know mom will cherish. Here are a few of my favorite pictures:

Wow Sorry for being away! Isn’t it crazy how life attacks and you wonder where a month has gone? Well my little man after one try and was too sick got to go through and complete his surgery. Although it is a total routine surgery the mom in me was worried. I don’t know how a mom couldn’t be…but he is fine! YAY! His throat still hurts him and he did not eat for a few days, but just today he downed a whole bowl of spaghetti and ice cream. Not together, but each. The two randomly generated winners got their iTunes cards…but just so you know here are the two numbers “out of the hat”

Thank you so much everyone for giving me suggestions for Roo’s new name. I must admit it has been so hard to choose. My good friend Emily had the name Biscuit, and although I gotta tell you I was like What the Heck BISCUIT?!?!?! Em has said her name about a gazillion times and well…Biscuit has grown on me. Too funny sorry everyone it is obvious Emily had an advantage. That is why she did not get the gift card…heehehe, but instead two innocent bystanders did! Maybe Em will. I am going to give the name Biscuit a fair shot and see how it sits

Because no post is complete without a picture. Here is a little preview from the session I had over the weekend. Little R here is a sweetheart. His mommy is one of the kindest ladies I have had the pleasure of meeting as of late. Her kind nature is sweet with little R and his sweet demeanor is a true joy.
